Constance, founded by the Romans, is more than 2,000 years old. The city tells the ups and downs of the occidental history. During the city's most famous event, the Council of Konsanz of 1414-1418, the entire Christian world looked to Constance. Emperor Siegesmund also paid his visit with a large entourage.

The island of Mainau is always worth a trip. The park, which is open all year round with a baroque palace complex from the 18th century, also includes one of the largest butterfly houses in Germany, a tree collection that is over 150 years old, and lovingly designed adventure playgrounds.

The Reichenau island is the largest island in Lake Constance. The island was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000 because of the Abbey of Reichenau. The abbey's Münster (minster church) is dedicated to the Virgin and Saint Mark.
